Acer Iconia A100 Could Be Launched In September
This 7" Honeycomb is reported to launch with Android 3.2 Honeycomb.
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 was the first Honeycomb tablet to make way to the Indian market and it was commercially successful to some extent. Today, there are a bunch of Honeycomb tablets in the market and the users are in a dilemma in picking the best one. Probably to solve that dilemma, Acer is going to launch a new 7" Honeycomb tablet called the Acer Iconia Tab A100. With a very pocketable 7" form factor, this new tablet will surely appeal to a lot of fans.
Acer Germany has said via Facebook that the tablet could be launched sometime during September, though it was supposed to launch it much earlier than that. Acer has decided to maintain official silence over the delay. However, the best part is that the tablet could be launched with Android 3.2 instead of 3.1 which is a very welcome move. Interestingly, Google has made it clear that the Android 3.2 user interface is not meant for smaller display sizes. As far as the specs of the device is concerned, the Iconia Tab A100 will come packed with a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor like the A500, 512 MB of RAM and in 8 or 16 GB of storage capacities.
Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab (first gen) last year, which was marketed pretty well. Since then, the rise of 10.1" tablets like the XOOM, Iconia Tab A500, Eee Pad Transformer, and others the 7" tabs got lost in the wind. This led to most experts believing that Honeycomb tablets will be exclusive for the bigger displays. However, ViewSonic took everyone by surprise by announcing the world's first ever 7" Honeycomb tablet, the ViewPad 7x. With the addition of Acer and a couple of other tablets into the mix, things are surely going to get very interesting. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 could be launched worldwide sometime around September-October.
